Who the room is for
Engineers and developers are a large part of the community, but not the whole of it. IoT Belfast has brought together founders, product teams, researchers, students, public bodies, technology organisations, hobbyists and people who are simply trying to understand how connected systems work in practice.
That mix is useful because IoT rarely stays inside one discipline. A working system can involve hardware, firmware, cloud services, data, security, product decisions, policy and people operating the thing after it ships.
The format
The long-running format usually uses three lightning talks, around 15 minutes each, built around the theme of the evening. Speakers get enough time to make one useful point, then the room gets time to question it, compare approaches and continue the discussion over food and drinks.
The current series
The pre-pandemic run paused around 2020. Revival work gathered pace in late 2024 and early 2025, with the numbered event series returning at Event 27 in February 2025. This website starts its permanent archive there and will backfill earlier events as reliable records are found.
